First, the Bad News

KUDOS TO SUP . Chris Daly for finally pulling together a homelessness summit that Mayor Willie Brown first proposed then abandoned six years ago. The ambitious event drew more than 800 attendees and covered a range of issues, including civil rights, affordable housing, and health care.

But shame on Daly for letting politicians hijack it for their own self-promotion. Even though there were hundreds of homeless people and service providers there, the first two hours of the summit featured one bureaucrat after another patting him- or herself on the back. We know Daly was trying to be polite, but last time we checked, these folks were part of the problem. (Cassi Feldman)
