ODC THEATER'S & quot;Pilots," a program that groups works
by beginning choreographers into single-evening concerts produced
by the artists themselves, may have to be rethought. The current incarnation,
number 37, was sold out three days before its early March premiere.
Not many experienced artists even if they band together for
a concert can claim that kind of success. Maybe this achievement
announced a general trend for the "Pilot" shows, or maybe
the word got out that this one was special. In any case, "Pilot
37: Bound" is back for an encore performance. At least half of
the six contributors present respectable fare; the other pieces
may need some work but certainly warrant a second viewing. Sean Dorsey's
lovely a small class of words is a clearly designed, inward-looking
meditation for a solo dancer. Nawaaz Ahmed's modest but intriguing
Short Pieces on Anarkali sets contemporary moves to Indian
movie music. Amy Seiwert's Lithium Dreams is made up of two
duets that don't quite add up, but individually they have potential.
Also presenting works are Doris Blacut-Johnson, Brittany Brown, and
Kiesha Minyard. 8 p.m., 3153 17th St., S.F. $8-$12. (415) 863-9834.
