BEFORE YOU ASSUME that the Bay Area's reputation as a bastion of liberalism keeps more conservative folk away, you may want to consider the Global Family Life Conference, taking place April 3-7 in Santa Clara. The event is sponsored by the Population Resource Institute, which is "committed to ending the human rights abuses committed in the name of 'family planning' and to ending counter-productive social and economic paradigms premised on the myth of 'overpopulation.' " According to the program for "Restoring a Culture of Life," there will be daily masses, a two-day youth event, and speeches by a teen chastity expert and a "pro-life sidewalk apostle." We didn't see any mention of workshops on preventing priestly molestation. (Tali Woodward) |
