Bay Guardian wins two top honors

THE BAY GUARDIAN won two first-place awards in the weekly-newspaper division of the Peninsula Press Club's annual journalism contest, it was announced May 10.

Reporter Cassi Feldman won top honors in the news category for "The Turf War over Public Housing," a detailed report on the battle between tenants and the San Francisco Housing Authority. Reporters Rachel Brahinsky and Savannah Blackwell and executive editor Tim Redmond were awarded first place in the news-series category for their reporting last fall on Pacific Gas and Electric Co.'s economic and environmental problems, the Raker Act scandal, and the need for a public power system in San Francisco.
