Tues/28, Venue 9 IN THE PAST six years, Footloose Presents' Women's Work series has become a highly popular forum for performing artists to try out new material. The series gives women dancers, actors, comedians, and performance artists of all stripes the opportunity to share programs with peers who like-mindedly prefer a high-energy environment to elaborate production facilities. The programs usually mix genres often a real boon for audiences but this week it's all about dance. Yet the artists and their work couldn't be more different from one another. Axis Dance Company's Alisa Rasera presents a duet that takes on the "everything is for sale" mentality, Kirstin E. Williams of Strong Current Dance Company is haunted by the voices of the voiceless children of the world, Susan Burke examines the process of growing up, and Judith Sacks looks at what people leave behind, both literally and metaphorically. Last but not least, Carol Swann and Vitali Kononov pad into feline territory. 8 p.m., 252 Ninth St., S.F. $8-$10. (415) 289-2000. (Rita Felciano) |
