It's a beautiful sculpture, shaped like a perfect hourglass, with a glistening, pearly-white, rock-hard surface. 111 Minna Gallery 111 Minna; 974-1719. Tues-Fri, 1-7 pm; Sat, 4-7pm. "Lost and Found." Every winter the rain floods Christopher A. Ruess's Oakland studio. He takes it in stride, however, and even finds artistic inspiration in the water and decay. A surfer and nature lover, he relishes all kinds of natural processes, even when they interfere with urban life. Ezra Li Eismont, Ruess's friend and art-project collaborator, has developed a unique style heavily influenced by graffiti art and his industrial surroundings. The two of them traded a series of wooden door panels back and forth over the past few months, each one painting and layering new collage pieces over the other's work. The results – 28 mixed-media panels in all – are amazingly coherent, combining Ruess's soft, organic naturalism and Eismont's hard urban edges into a compelling synthesis of form and style. "Lost and Found" also includes almost 20 individual works by each artist, including one of Ruess's scrapbooks, which gives what feels like a very private insight into his working processes. Through Sat/15. (Westbrook)

Pasquale Iannetti 531 Sutter; 433-2771. Mon-Sat, 10am-6pm. Various works by European, American, and Mexican masters. Ongoing. "Works on Paper: A Review," work by Francisco Zuñiga. Through Sat/15.

Paxton Gate 824 Valencia; 824-1872. Mon-Thurs, noon-7pm; Fri, noon-8pm; Sat, 11am-8pm; Sun, 11am-7pm. Works by Cristina Legato Orr and Damian Fagan. Cristina Legato Orr is an artist with an overabundance of morbid curiosity. Orr collects and photographs the desiccated corpses of little rodents, amphibians, and sometimes even medium-size mammals, like the cat in Burns. Her pictures have straightforward titles such as Frog and Newt, but the images are poetic, shadowy, sepia-toned prints that lovingly linger over the creatures' empty eye sockets and broken skeletons. Sharing the exhibition space with Orr is Damian Fagan, who also uses dead animals in his work but takes a more humorous approach. Fagan's wall-mounted constructions evoke seemingly random associations – from trophy-fish taxidermy to floral funeral monuments and B horror flicks. What they mean is unclear, but they've got a lot more going on than just pure Dada absurdity; there's an underlying method to Fagan's apparent madness. Through Sun/16. (Westbrook)
