Fri/12-Sun/14, Dance Mission Theatre THE "Range of Motion" series is the lesser-known performance component of the Dancers' Group Summer Dance Festival. It features local and guest artist-teachers. The first installment presented some stunning work, including Kathleen Hermesdorf (with Patricia Jiron and Sri Louise) in her reworked Bodies of Evidence, now called Matryoshka; dancer's dancer Shelley Senter in phrase material from Trisha Brown's Foray Foret and Glacial Decoy; and Yvonne Rainer's seminal Trio A, performed as a duet by Senter and Louise Johnson. It was the kind of programming that proves you can present intelligent, rewarding dance without a huge budget. "Range of Motion: Series II" features Katie Duck of Magpie, Keith Hennessy, Shannon McMurchy, Rhythmix, Shinichi Momo Koga, and Kim Epifano. If this program comes even close to matching the interest of the first one, it will be a success. 8 p.m., 3316 24th St., S.F. $15. (415) 920-9181. (Rita Felciano) |
