'Double Pleasure' Fri/23-Sat/24, Cowell Theater HUCKABAY MCALLISTER DANCE and Dance Repertory/San Francisco are calling their joint concert "Double Pleasure." It might seem like an odd pairing since Huckabay McAllister is a two-choreographer company, and Dance Rep presents a variety of points of view. With the former you know what to expect: tightly crafted works with perspectives that are ever so slightly skewed but in retrospect make sense. Jenny McAllister's wicked sense of humor often translates into quasi-soap operas, the latest of which, Luck of the Draw, is set in the Ozark Mountains. Emma Lou Huckabay's work is wider ranging and formally more consistent; here she is premiering Belinda's Hand, based on Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Dance Rep opens the window of the sometimes introspective house of Bay Area dance by programming works, both old and not so old, by choreographers, both known and not so known, from around the country. You may not be familiar with Michael Kelly, Lory Bryhni, and Cindy Gratz now but one day you might. Dance Rep also premieres an as-yet-untitled piece by the Bay Area's Christine Cali. Judging by the roster, this partnering of two dissimilar companies just might spark more than double pleasures. 8 p.m., Cowell Theater, Fort Mason Center, Marina at Laguna, S.F. $15-$18. (415) 345-7575. (Rita Felciano)
