If the Sun & Moon should doubt

They'd immediately Go out.

William Blake

This week the moon passes through its first quarter phase. Why is it called a "quarter" instead of a "half" since we're actually seeing half the moon? "Quarter" refers to the portion of an entire lunation that passes between the new moon and this phase. The astrological implications are clear: this week marks a turning point for events that began on or around the new moon on Oct. 6. Plots twist, relationships deepen.

Wednesday, Oct. 9 Waxing moon in Sagittarius; Venus retrogrades in Scorpio. Adventures close to home are what's called for, especially those involving the risk of making a fool of yourself. It's a great day for conferences, also buying wheels of any kind. Sagittarius, don't corral your charisma, and say yes to invitations for the next three days. VOC 4:38 a.m. to 6:21 a.m.

Thursday, Oct. 10 Waxing moon in Sagittarius. Tension earlier in the week gets relief, or is that nervous laughter randomly dispersed? Sagittarians know what I mean. Geminis, are you looking for a fight? Would it be smarter to let the little stuff slide? Taureans: for the next two weeks, you'll want to take yourself apart, but you don't have the tools. Aries are better in a crowd than with a partner. Work late if you have to, but make it happen today as the weekend could find you scrambling.

Friday, Oct. 11 Waxing moon in Capricorn. To find your comfort zone, find your limits. (That means leaving early, though earth-sign folks typically find this difficult.) Capricorns, today through Sunday you'll take everything personally and want to be close to others – without making much effort. No, I'm not chiding you. Taureans, this weekend is all about investment, starting now. What's your return going to be? VOC 8:08 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Saturday, Oct. 12 Waxing moon in Capricorn. Rearranging a home work space and/or buying stuff at Home Depot satisfies aesthetic urges. Capricorns, do you need to juggle so many things at once? Pisces and Scorpios should be more social than you'd planned – enjoy. Love for Cancers may be wistful or bittersweet (just the way you crabbies like it, if you're honest!). Virgos, you're absolutely right. Don't rub our noses in it.

Sunday, Oct. 13 Waxing moon in Capricorn/Aquarius. The mood changes radically – super serious to giddy as the day progresses. Capricorns, are you divulging too much? Aquarians, sharpness becomes you, though not in romance – don't forget to take a partner's insecurities into consideration. Aries, you may look for a fight, thinking you're being "honest." VOC 2:42 p.m. to 4:51 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 14 Waxing moon in Aquarius. Enlightenment comes at a cost. Practicality? Why surely. Interesting vibe for same-sex flirtation – suddenly the closet seems like a whimsical place to be. Thank god for Aquarians, who can see around the edges of the picture to how we hang it up. Geminis, speak well of others as you speak well of yourselves. Today and tomorrow are good for making auto repairs.

Tuesday, Oct. 15 Waxing moon in Aquarius. It's a great day for improving gizmos, speeding up programs, or finding shortcuts that don't involve a machete or a compass. Aquarians, your imagination runs amok. Are you feeling paranoid that those in charge won't acknowledge your efforts? That's a danger, especially for those born the first week of February. Leos, longing looks won't do it; make a move or go back to your den. Libras, speak up today through Thursday.

Wednesday, Oct. 16 Waxing moon in Pisces. If you've got finish phobia, today through Friday is the time to let all kinds of activities quietly lapse. Pisces, are you feeling emotional? A little under the weather? Perhaps you'd like to check out, but the world won't let you because the world wants you in charge. Scorpios, everything flows freely, especially money you don't have. VOC 1:15 a.m. to 3:07 a.m.

KEY TO SALLY CRAGIN’S MOON SIGNS
This horoscope uses the passage of the moon as much as the sun to provide a forecast, and thus it’s applicable to everyone. However, the specific signs mentioned in each day’s forecast are receiving special attention from the universe. Each week all 12 signs will be mentioned, usually more than once.

When the moon is in your sun sign, you are beginning a new 28-day cycle. During that period expect really wide emotional swings. When the moon is opposite your sun sign, expect difficulties with your preferred gender, authority figures, and your better angel. When the moon is in Aries, it opposes Libra. Other oppositions are Taurus-Scorpio, Gemini-Sagittarius, Cancer-Capricorn, Leo-Aquarius, and Virgo-Pisces. The moon takes about two and a half days to cruise through a sign.

Still with me? Finally, as the moon changes sign, it will sometimes become “void of course.” This means it ceases to make major angles to planets. Consider this a null time, and try to avoid business decisions until this period is over. If you’ve got to make a move, stay skeptical. But it’s terrific for making art. All void-of-course times are pacific daylight. Visit www.moonsigns.net for more information. .
