'Qoöl New Year's Eve' 111 Minna Gallery, 111 Minna; www.ticketweb.com. 10pm-2am, $25-30. "Mr. and Ms. World Peace" will be crowned at this event, which also features DJs Mermaid, Scott Carelli, Memory Man, Spesh, and Ms. E.

'Resolution III' Ruby Skye, 420 Mason; 693-0777. 7pm, $50-100. Derrick Carter is the headlining DJ at this party.

Spundae presents 'Birth of a New Year' 1015 Folsom, 1015 Folsom; 431-1200, www.1015.com. 9pm-6am, $40-60. DJ Armin Van Buuren headlines this party with a 3-hour set in the "Spundae Starship" main room, along with a host of other DJs spinning house, '70s and '80s club classics, and more in four other rooms.

'San Francisco Bowl' Pac Bell Park, 24 Willie Mays Plaza; 947-BOWL, www.sfbowl.com. 7:30pm, $40. The first-ever college bowl held in San Francisco pits teams from the Big East and Mountain West conferences in a New Year's Eve showdown.

'San Francisco Symphony New Year's Eve Gala' Davies Symphony Hall, 201 Van Ness; 864-6000, www.sfsymphony.org. 9pm, $87-145. The San Francisco Symphony performs a program titled "Vienna Woods, New York Nights: Songs of Two Cities," followed by dancing, desserts, champagne, and more.

'The Vampire Tour of San Francisco' meet at California and Taylor; (650) 279-1840, sfvamptour@yahoo.com. 8pm, $15-20. This New Year's Eve event – a spooky stroll through Nob Hill's haunted history – ends at 10pm, so it's a good pre-party choice for fans of the undead.

Bring the kids to the museum for a New Year's Eve Day party (noon-2pm, with a New Year's toast at 2pm) or on Jan 1 (10am-5pm) for fun hands-on science activities.
