moon signs

This week the moon is waxing. The full moon won't come until Jan. 18, so it's an excellent time for continuing work that began at the start of the new year. And if you embarked on your New Year's resolutions on Jan. 2 (as I suggested), those choices should get easier (except for you Aquarians and Taureans, who are not in a mood to be told what to do, even if it's only a list telling you what to do). And don't forget, we're into our second week of Mercury's retrograde in Capricorn, which affects everyone. Especially torturous results are bestowed on Libras and Aries, who are inclined to exaggerate or misspeak and then be thoroughly unaware of what's been communicated. Be patient.

Wednesday, Jan. 8 Waxing moon in Pisces/Aries. A void-of-course morning moon means you shouldn't send off that incendiary e-mail/love letter/ransom note before noon. Instead, make a list or write a draft, or see if the furniture looks better over here. Pisces, you don't mind being a buffoon, but others better not try to steal your spotlight. Aries, the next two days will preview the next three weeks – a month when Venus and Mars want you to make new friends. VOC 3:55 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 9 Waxing moon in Aries. With the moon and Venus both in Aries, you fire-sign folks could get carried away by your own enthusiasm and "willingness to believe." So could the rest of us, but fire-sign credulity is in a special category. Speaking of credulity, you Aquarians and Taureans born after Feb. 15 or May 15, respectively, could easily squander money from now until the full moon. Oh, and Aries? Yes, you're adorable.

Friday, Jan. 10 Waxing moon in Aries. Great day for an end-of-week blowup – so much for the holiday theme of goodwill toward all. Air signs, especially Libras and Geminis, you may let your "inner brat" out of the yard. In romance the theme is "temporary fixes," especially for Scorpios, Leos, Virgos, and Pisces. If you're out late and bring someone new home, you probably won't want them to stay. VOC 7:10 p.m. to 1:58 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 11 Waxing moon in Taurus. It's a great day for shopping, especially for items relating to home decor (versus improvement) and jewelry. Taureans, you may feel too responsible: ratchet down that martyr complex. Capricorns, it's your birthday month; be gracious rather than grudging, because today your good manners could take you far.

Sunday, Jan. 12 Waxing moon in Taurus. Incredibly great astrology for the following: domestic busywork, especially making meals to freeze; major purchases (a car or a home); and personal beautification. Taureans, indulge yourself. Pisces and Cancers, indulge someone else. Virgos, sublimate by cleaning or revamping some "tired" area of your living quarters. Be practical, not emotional, in behavioral choices today.

Monday, Jan. 13 Waxing moon in Taurus/Gemini. Today brings a completely weird work vibe – everything seems really important and set in stone, but plans unravel as the day goes on. Taureans, question your impulses today: are you in charge of your destiny, or are you letting that be someone else's job? Geminis, Venus isn't on your side this month, so you have to try extrahard in your relationships. Make sure you have your "listening face" on. VOC 9:44 a.m. to 2:08 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 14 Waxing moon in Gemini. It's an excellent opportunity for analysis and simplification in all departments. Reduce the formula to a sentence. Virgos, you may need to ramble, especially if there's a captive audience; Libras, you feel contradictory impulses, all of which need to be aired and appraised. Romance for you Leo and Aries women is pleasurable, if a bit of a head game.
