'The Marsh Mitzvah'
Sun/22, Marsh

SOLO PERFORMER SARA Felder has joked, juggled swords, and explored her greatly talented Jewish, lesbian self on stages far and wide since she launched her first show, Beyond Brooklyn, at the Marsh. She isn't alone – so many performers owe a similar debt to the "breeding ground for solo performance" that you could say it's been a beehive of activity were it not for the mixed metaphor, and I'm not about to claim that for 13 years it's buzzed like a tent full of mosquitoes, even if that is more etymologically correct. So I'll cut right to the chase: If you've seen Marsh performances by the fabulous Charlie Varon; by the brilliant, the gorgeous Marga Gomez; by the hilarious son-of-a-Stalinist and all-around Ivy Leaguer gone misfit Josh Kornbluth, and probably 60 or 70 others like I have, you'll turn out for "'The Marsh Mitzvah," a coming-of-age fundraiser, without me telling you to. Felder's going to be there to perform, as is Varon, along with Lisa Geduldig, Wayne Harris, David Hirata, Merle Kessler, Cindy Ossias, and my new-school favorites, Lunatique Fantastique. 6-9 p.m., 1062 Valencia, S.F. $35. (415) 826-5750, 641-0235. (J.H. Tompkins)
