Protect housing in Oakland
Wednesday, Jan. 7, join a group of voters who will sign up to speak at the Planning Commission meeting in opposition to unlimited condominium conversions in Oakland. Celebrate the dream
Saturday, Jan. 10, the city of Oakland kicks off a monthlong series
of events in honor of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who
would have been 75 years old this month. Dr. King's son, Martin Luther
King III, who has worked with the Center for Nonviolent Social Change
and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, delivers the keynote
speech. In addition to music, dance, and spoken word by local performers,
Oakland youth read excerpts from the civil rights activist's speeches.
