'Crawling out from under Rock'
Fri/23 and Sat/24, New Langton Arts

ONE SOMA PERFORMANCE space tips its hat to another when New Langton Arts hosts "Crawling out from under Rock," a two-night installment of noise-punk-metal-improv-performance art in the spirit of the now defunct Clit Stop. True, there's no formal connection, but New Langton's band choices for the two shows demonstrate the same what-the-hell, throw-'em-all-together creativity of the Clit Stop's legendary bookings. The six musicians, who will be performing solo and in various groupings, are multi-instrumentalist Paul Costuros (Total Shutdown, XBXRX), keyboardist Eric Landmark (Numbers), saxophonist Heco Davis (Mono Pause), percussionist Moe! Staiano (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum), drummer and keyboardist Greg Saunier (Deerhoof, Curtains), and vocal acrobat Jesse Quattro (Carniceria, Saint of Killers). Chances are, if you like some of the above bands, you dislike some of the others, but the scene-uniting, hands-across-the-underground spirit is something we can all get behind. Right? 8 p.m., 1246 Folsom, S.F. $6-$8. (415) 626-5416. (Will York)
