LAST YEAR'S "House Special" at ODC Theater proved to be one of the brainiest and most entertaining late-summer dance programs. "House Special" – featuring the top-tier participants in ODC's ongoing program of supporting choreographers at various stages in their development – throws together three experienced artists, who each have a specific project they're working on. For a two-week period, they're given a choreographer's second-most precious commodity (the first being dancers): free studio space. They're also asked to watch each other's works and get together on a regular basis for shoptalk and brain-picking sessions. At the end, they produce a concert. Think of it as a kind of summer camp for choreographers. The work may not be finished, may not even have a title yet – but if last year's experience is any indication, this kind of presentation can make for an exhilarating evening of new dance.
