Mission art chart
A short jaunt through the neighborhood's avenues and alleys reveals murals, street art, graffiti, and galleries. The Mission Arts Monthly (744 Alabama, S.F. 415-462-1535, www.missionarts.org) – a recently launched newspaper highlighting the neighborhood's artistic community – aims to sort them all out and report on the scene. The free monthly was founded in order to "give the artists a voice and a chance to stand out," editor Geoff Wolfe says. Pick up a copy inside many Mission storefronts. (Starla Estrada)

Open house The beloved Cliff House (1090 Point Lobos, S.F. 415-386-3330, www.cliffhouse.com), whose rich dining history dates back to 1863, has reopened after a $19 million renovation project that began in January 2003. "We have completely gutted it down to the shell and rebuilt it," general manager Ralph Burgin says, and he adds that the original neoclassical architecture has been restored. A portion of the restaurant, Sutro's, is open now, and the remainder of the venue will open by the end of September. (Lori Musicer)
