Dear APME Colleagues: We lost one of our own last Friday, when Beverly Kees was struck and killed by a truck while crossing a San Francisco street. Bev was active in many journalism organizations, including the Associated Press Managing Editors, where she served on the association's governing board for six years as well as on numerous committees. She received APME's Meritorious Service Award in 1998. She was an outstanding journalist, but more importantly she was an outstanding person who gave unstintingly to those around her. APME will honor that commitment with a memorial fund dedicated to our student program. We have to work out some details and will get back to you as quickly as possible.
