Hurts so good Tired of staying in and watching bad movies only to have your nasty witticisms wasted on the houseplants? Every Sunday at 8 p.m., Bad Movie Night at the Dark Room Theatre (2263 Mission, S.F. 415-401-7987, www.darkroomsf.com) screens some of the best wastes of celluloid ever produced. For five bucks you can kick up your feet, eat copious amounts of popcorn, and enjoy the hilarious rants of the host. And no one will shhhh! you for yakking at the screen. (Maya Melenchuk)

The curl unfurls Stylist Tracey Fischer has opened Firehorse Atelier (659 Haight, S.F. 415-336-0779), a hip new hair salon and gallery space in the Lower Haight, to give the neighborhood a bit of a lift and a highlight. "It's more of a design lab" than just an ordinary salon, says Fischer, who will celebrate with a grand-opening party Sat/23, 8 p.m. The night will feature the festive Brazilian chorinhos of Crying High as well as the global selections of DJ Soulsalaam.
