(Yet) Another Hole in the Head June 2-9, Roxie Cinema YOU COULD SPEND the long, lonely weeks between Revenge of the Sith and Batman Begins catching up on your summer reading. But you'd be far better off putting your brain through the meat grinder that is (Yet) Another Hole in the Head, back for its second year with a holster full of genre films. There's plenty of horror (including classic sick picks like Takashi Miike's 1999 Audition), but there's also a strong sci-fi and fantasy presence: opening-night C.G. implosion Immortal Ad Vitam; on-the-cheap futuristic nightmare CL.one; and the block-rockin' Godzilla: Final Wars (Konichiwa, Smog Monster!). Purists and lapsed vegetarians will want to check out Conor McMahon's Dead Meat basically Night of the Living Dead with a mad cow disease subplot and an Irish-countryside setting. Old-school horror fans should take note of Devil's Playground, Dante Tomaselli's road-trip-gone-awry yarn made most notable by its cast of DVD all-stars: Felissa Rose (Angela from Sleepaway Camp), Edwin Neal (the creepy hitchhiker from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and Ellen Sandweiss (doomed in The Evil Dead). The Evil Dead connection doesn't stop there, as the festival also presents Evil Dead: Live, an appropriately gore-soaked stage tribute to Sam Raimi's horror trilogy as well as closing-night selection Man with the Screaming Brain, directed by and starring number one Dead man Bruce Campbell.
