Holding on Continuing 30 years of operating as a worker-owned collective, Nabolom Bakery (2708 Russell, Berk. 510-845-2253) has expanded across the street. The green-friendly bakery now operates a sidewalk kiosk so pedestrians in a hurry can grab a pastry to go. The store, which was reportedly set to close last summer, has also recently redecorated but continues its long tradition of selling local art on the walls. (Kristina Peterson)

Panty raid It's hard for a lady to pull off a last-minute hot date when all her cutest pairs of undies are moldering in the laundry hamper – especially if she lives in the Mission, where she's lucky to find even white-cotton granny panties at a moment's notice. Having opened Bloomers (2807 24th St., SF. 415-285-2121) just five weeks ago, proprietor Regina Madrigal aims to change all of that. With a choice of ruffled rumba undergarments from Honeydew, American Apparel's boy briefs and spandex hot shorts, those sheer mesh styles from Ongossamer, and bras by Selina and Jezebel, all in a variety of hues, Missionistas never have to go commando ... unless they really want to.
