CONVENTION

This is your excuse — nay, license — to get your geek on, whether your pleasure is anime, sci-fi, fantasy film, TV, gaming, or just those old-fashioned, mayhem-filled funnies. This year's event gives fan boys and girls a chance to commune with comic artists and wallow in their obsessions — be they Spiderman, Tron, Frank Miller, Firefly/Serenity, Star Wars, Hellboy, or, ahem, The Book of Mormon (on hand are husband-and-wife team Mark and Laura Allred, the creators of the comic adaptation The Golden Plates). It doesn't get much more self-referential than the "Costuming for Conventions" event on Saturday or reverential than the "Is Star Trek Dead, Jim?" panel. Suffice to say, there's something for every head. Making appearances in addition to Sin City innovator Miller, are artists Chris Bachalo (Uncanny X-Men), Gahan Wilson (The New Yorker), Greg Rucka (Super Girl), Mike Mignola (Hellboy), and filmmaker Kevin Smith (Clerks).
