Bunny the beast PRESS PLAY As many, many club patrons have discovered, trash-drag icon, Wigstock originator, and all-around filth-sponge Lady Bunny is best viewed from behind. There's nothing quite like the sight of those satellite-tower tresses snapping back and an ice-cold bottle of Bud being drained in one long gulp. And then comes the trademark sonic-boom belch, also best encountered from the rear. While viewers of her recent, impossibly full-length DVD Rated X (For Xtra Retarded) aren't treated to that particular personal pleasure, there's a solid, squalid kegger of fabula Bunster up front to be had — from Sex and the City and Will and Grace guest-star snippets to glorious Wigstock shtick, grainy stand-up routines, loony music videos, Britney Spears stalker moments, and, of course, one-liners fished from the groaning toilet of Bunny's id. ("What's the difference between a priest and acne? Acne doesn't come on your face till you're 13!") Her Whitney tribute/bash "I Will Always Smoke Crack" transcends its horrific datedness to run a chill up your liquor-store stockings, while a Kate Bush parody spectacular proves every good drag queen runs a little long. And why not? Bunny's made a lifetime spectacle of herself, and we should revel in every spooge-soaked, mentally challenged moment of it. (Marke Bieschke)
