upon your body
the warming sunrays playing
upon my body

the frogs at the pond
beckon me down and greet me
with total silence

sweet old couples hug
drawn together by Christmas
heating fuel expense

on my child’s face
the sun comes and shines and leaves
dots upon her nose

loud announcements of
new petroleum reserves
hush don’t tell the earth

mother is wounded
cut within her forest’s heart
falls another tree

counting your blessings
don’t forget necessity
earth’s ecology

i want to be rich
i will vote capitalist
and cut my own throat

tiny bugs of brown
do you fight or do you love
grappling on the ground

I do not own earth
it is only comforting
when shared with others

the moon in fullness
tomorrow it will begin
to empty again

feathers in your cap
once soared above the turmoil
upon free spirits
