This weekend's clubs and parties: It’s a classic case of B&T this Labor Day weekend. Not B&T as in bridge and tunnel -- although the fact that the BART’s open 24 hours while the Bay Bridge gets some fixin’ promises to flood the city with thankfully non-drunk driving revellers. (I myself plan to take advantage of this BART generosity by exploring some East Bay haunts I haven’t been able to visit in a while, like the White Horse Inn, the Ruby Room, and the Bench & Bar … look out Oaktown!)
Nope, it’s B&T as in bears and trannies, and a fab club called Trans Am (and more!). This week’s Super Ego column gave the lowdown on some of the events going on this week and next, here’s some more. Just for us.

Look out!
First: I emerged from my birthday fog this week to remember, without any help from their promotions department, that the Hairrison Street Fair is this Sunday. Thousands of hirsute shirtless revellers hit Harrison street and groan, possibly at the name of this beefy affair. Wha??? Still, I loves me some bear meat (only five BBQ’d haunches for me, thanks!), so I’ll definitely breeze through.

On the tranny side of the spectrum – although, frighteningly enough, I know several bear drag queens --- is drag doyenne and entertainer-to-the-stars (well, those from the gutter, at least) Juanita More’s Birthday at her weekly cute boyfest Playboy. Go and wish her 10 more years of gorgeous life. My favorite musical nebbish-about-town Missy Hot Pants DJs along with his amigo Spirit Fingers -- there will be a little of unheard-of sonic gems dropped, believe me. You can’t miss.

Also on Saturday two adored and gorgeous fellas, Bill Picture and DJ Dirty Knees whoop it up with Trans Am, their live queer rock, raunchy monthly at Club Eight. This month’s featured punkish band, Death of a Party. Plus performances by Valentine and Freida Laye – and a special rock ‘n roll set by techno hero Jason Kendig! Frabjous.

Anna Conda and the ladies of Charlie Horse (Ethel Merman, Miss Nix, many, many more) are gonna freakin' freak you out with their freakin' vocal pyrotechnics and full-throated warbles. THIS JUST IN! From frisky intern Stephen Torres:
Burnout Man 2007

Anything involving leaving San Francisco might seem extremely unappealing this weekend unless however if you are already halfway to Black Rock and already riding the crest of your second tab of ecstasy. The playa, however, will not be the only space featuring art installations and performance and if you’d like something a little more organic than the juggernaut out east, than look no further than the industrial wonderland that is West Oakland.
High Class productions will be putting up their Burnout Man 2007 at the Grant Irish Warehouse and Foundry. At this fest that claims to “put the fuck you back in summer where it belongs.”, Irish will be showing off his newest works in addition to an enormous line up of artists performing. Featured acts include Fuckwolf, Tank Attack, and The Moral Tourists. Lesbians (with Jenny Hoyston). Rapatron, and many others. DJs will spin, and Irish himself and Luana Coonen will display their artworks.
Here’s the clincher: West Oakland Station is not one of those being kept open by BART at all hours, so bear that in mind.
Burnout Man 2007: A Celebration of Uniqueness, Together
2232 Poplar Street, Oakland
Sunday, September 2 12pm
$7-15 sliding
