Rock 'n' roll clowning with Metalocalypse's Dethklok. Happy. Birthday.
Ye gads - too much as usual, especially on this very bizzy Saturday, June 7. Here are more worthies that unfortunately didn't make it to print - but made it, happily, here.
DETHKLOK
They started a joke that set a whole world of ex- and present metal heads laughing. TV yuk phenom-turned-metal phenom, Dethklok of Adult Swim’s Metalocalpyse sets Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Pickles the Drummer loose on an unsuspecting Bay Area - The Dethalbum in hand. Be sure to also catch hard-luck, yet still raging opening band Soilent Green. Thurs/June 5, 8 p.m., $26.50. Fillmore, 1805 Geary, SF. (415) 346-6000.

JOAN OF ARC
The martyred girl hero takes her latest form - as the ambitious Chicago rockers, returning with a new album, Boo!Human (Polyvinyl). Math rock? Post-punk post-structuralism? Ask Cap’n Jazz - or better, Tim Kinsella. Thurs/5, 8 p.m., $12. Rickshaw Stop, 155 Fell, SF. (415) 861-2011.
THE WOMBATS
"Let's Dance to Joy Division" - a brilliant idea or no? The high-energy Liverpool natives like to sing songs about anxiety attacks, discos, and doctorates - but don't hold that against 'em. Thurs/5, 10 p.m.-2 a.m., $10-$12. Popscene, 330 Ritch, SF.
CASIOTONE FOR THE PAINFULLY ALONE
The former Bay Area denizen returns for a pair of shows - at the Hemlock Tavern Sat/7, and here, at an all-ages performance presented by Club Sandwich. Rounding out the eve are films by David Enos and schizo-rock-folk by Foot Foot. Fri/6, 8 p.m., $6. ATA, 992 Valencia. SF. www.clubsandwichbayarea.com
DENGUE FEVER
The Contemporary Jewish Museum ushers in a new building - and Dawn ‘08, a mad, mod twist on the Shavuot's traditional, all-night rabbinical study jams. This session lasts till 3 a.m. - and serenading the early morning hours are the always inspiring Cambodian-psych-ohs of Dengue Fever, fresh from touting their documentary of their maiden tour of Cambodia. Sat/7, 8 p.m., $15. Contemporary Jewish Museum, 736 Mission, SF. (415) 655-7800.
DJ SPOOKY
That Subliminal Kid, ne Paul Miller, presents Terra Nova: The Antarctic Suite, a multimedia, musical portrait of the formidable landmass, as part of 01SJ art fest, which runs from June 4-8 in San Jose. , including DJ Spooky’s **The Antarctic Suite.** Oh yes, and watch out for half-naked hotties braving the notion of drastic global warming while South Bay bar crawling at the festival's block party - all sans jackets. This **is** the Bay Area, though some might argue that San Jose is a Winchester-spooky “what Bay?” realm unto itself. Sat/7, 6 and 8 p.m., $15. IMAX Theater, Tech Museum of Innovation, 201 S. Market, San Jose. www.01sj.org
MOBY
Care to Play? Moby turns in a DJ set - doubtless toting vinyl - at this impromptu post-BFD after-party (do take your time tearing up to the city from Mountain View, dood). Also expect MSTRKRFT, Motor, and Shit Disco. Shit. Sat/7, 10 p.m.-3 a.m., $15 advance. Mezzanine, 444 Jessie, SF. (415) 820-9669.

Oakland’s garage-rock roustabouts keep it loud and gloriously cocky. With Candy Apple and the Booze. Sat/7, 10 p.m., $10. Bottom of the Hill, 1233 17th St., SF.
