I'm not even going to address whether or not Scientology is a religion or a cult, whether anyone should be following it, or even whether Tom Cruise is holding Katie Holmes and her recently unseen soul hostage.
No, I'm just going to say that if you were trying to convince people that Scientology isn't a bunch of science fiction bullshit with its own gibberish language, would you let this guy be your spokesperson?

Click here to watch Defamer's clips from Tom Cruise's much-talked-about Scientology video, and see if you can figure out what the hell he's talking about.
Someone get this writers' strike over with. Tom Cruise should not be allowed to speak his own words out loud.

Would I let that guy be my organization's spokesman? Well, his speech sounds vaguely political. With the exception of a handful of jargon words, yes. He's of good cheer, animated, personable and warm.

OK, OK. I agree Tom Cruise seems cheery and warm. And if the volume on your computer is turned down while you watch this video, perhaps you'd think his presence would do wonders for any campaign, even for love-it-or-hate-it-but-no-one's-neutral Scientology.
But I tend to think that it's what someone actually says that's important. As for what Tom is saying? I'm not even sure he's speaking in complete sentences. I don't care if he's smiling while he's doing it - it still makes him sound as crazy as most people assume Scientology is.
Now, if I were casting for "Rainman 2: Xenu's Revenge," Tom Cruise would do just fine.
