I could have sworn that my credit card wriggled in my pocket as I was walking along Valencia the other day in the glorious Mission sunshine. I figured it was a Pavlovian response to the red and white awning of Minnie Wilde, a frequent stop for me (and source of many, many free airline miles courtesy of United Visa). I shrugged off the supernatural tremor and walked on determinedly: later for you, my plastic frenemy.

Later, at Candystore on 16th Street, I was checking out some awesome high-waisted jeans -- that's right, you can go ahead and call me Mom -- when someone said, "Mmm, Built By Wendy. I can't wait for the store to open. It's going to be just a few blocks from here."
You don't say, I thought, recalling both the vibrations in my pocket and that someone once referred to this store as "Broke By Wendy," not because Wendy Mullins' designs are incredibly expensive, but because they are so perfectly, un-ironically adorable it's hard not drop an entire year's pay buying everything (and a guitar strap.)
I'm going to leave my rabid credit card at home and go cash-only for the store's sample sale, Friday June 6 through Sunday the 8th.
Built By Wendy officially opens June 15
