This was hardly secret, but now it's official: School Board member Eric Mar, long a progressive leader, will announce soon that he's running for supervisor in District One. And in the meantime, he's working against the McGoldrick recall.

That's so cool! I think that my head is going to explode because of this news.

I posted this over at leftinsf.com and Eric emailed Sasha to say that he isn't official yet...

Since McGoldrick endorsed him at the convention this weekend, I think he's pretty official ... he's not going to announce for a bit more yet, but it's happening.

Eric's blatent use of his position on the Board of Education to further his own personal political agenda (at the expense of the very youth he is obligated to represent)is an embarrassment to the city. 30% of school-age children in San Francisco attend private schools, and the political nature of the board is driving even more away. I hope he is soundly rejected by the Richmond District voters. He is even more off-base than Jake.
