This is sort of funny and sort of annoying, considering that when I contacted Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant to request a tour for a story I was working on about the future of nuclear power, I was denied admittance and told:
"All tour requests are screened against the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's post-9/11 requirement that U.S. nuclear plant licensees provide tours only when there is a clear business need. Upon review of your request, we have determined that it does not meet this screening requirement."
Which is total bullshit. The same week I made my request, a reporter at the OC Register got a tour of San Onofre.
That aside, this guy got a free ride in!

"Newsom Snubs His Nose At Tenderloin Quality Of Life Organization"
Although the community based organization known as the "Community Leadership Alliance" has been labled a Gavin Newsom ally by folks of San Francisco's Central City, and although this CBO's leaders are staunch Newsom supporters and campaign volunteers, the group has been unsuccessful in getting the mayor to attend one of their monthly community forums.
The Community Leadership Alliance has had community forums which have promoted the mayor's proposals such as, Surveillance Cameras, Community Justice Center, Better Streets Plan. But yet this grass roots quality of life advocacy group is unable to achieve the mayor's support, and/or get the mayor's staff to return calls. Interestingly enough Angela Alioto who also was a candidate for mayor in 2003 has been a dedicated and loyal supporter of the Community leadership Alliance. Could it possibly be that the CLA's loyaltys are terribly misguided?
The CLA has informed their members ( 836 ) that all future monthly community forums have been put on hold. And that they are going to allow the mayor and/or his scheduling staff to determine the date, time, place, and topic of CLA's next meeting. Ever since Gavin Newsom took office in January of 2004, the CLA has submitted 8 requests for his attendance to their community forums. Each of these times the mayor's scheduling department has denied their requests citing a scheduling conflict. Well now there is absolutely no wiggle room for comming-up with excuses.
TOGETHER we can
