After picking up my photo credential downtown this morning I got a bicycle from one of the "Freewheeling" stations. It's a free bicycle program set up specifically for the convention. Then I rode over to grab lunch at an amazing taqueria in the Highlands:

Things were just starting up at the convention center and on the way to the security check Reverend Al Sharpton was holding court:

After making it into the building and finding a seat in the nosebleeds, Pelosi began the role call:

At that point I knew I had to get down to the floor...

I got down just in time... the states began their role call and California created some drama by passing its votes:

Along with many other press folks I rushed over to the California delegation to find out what had happened. I ran into Steve as he chatted with Supervisor Chris Daly for a bit:

Back on the floor the pundits were at work, including Anderson "Silver Fox" Cooper and James Carville:

Hillary sealed the deal once and for all:

After a quick break I was back on the floor for Bill's speech... the hall went ballistic. The sign/flag distribution was well-choreographed. Actually speaking of which, Kumar (as in Harold and Kumar) was distributing signs to the Illinois delegation... I guess that was his means of getting on the floor:

And the night closed out with Biden and Obama:

I think that the Democratic national Convention was a huge success. It really helped Obama get that postive image. He made himself look very intellectual and compassionate/sympathetic. I think President Clinton and Hillary Clinton's endorsement of Obama was very helpful. Obama will win this election because people are tired of the Republicans and their failures. What America wants now is change, not more of the same...
