By Steven T. Jones
Paul Hogarth has announced his withdrawal from the District 6 race for the Board of Supervisors, clearing the way for Debra Walker to be the sole significant progressive candidate in that race (although Jim Meko will also vie for those votes in a district that is one of the city's most liberal, while downtown is expected to offer up its own candidate).
In making his announcement, Hogarth -- who works for Tenderloin Housing Clinic and writes for its Beyond Chron blog -- cited financial reasons and the fact that his heart just wasn't in it right now. He had come under some criticism in the Guardian and elsewhere for planning to continue writing for the blog as he ran.

And a host of thousands,
Two candidates? C'mon, Steve. 17 of us ran in D-6 in 2000 and I finished 17th. I remind Daly of that when he brags he beat me in a race ("So did everyone else who ran."). D-6 and D-5 have the most fertile ground for quality candidates and I'm certain we'll have a race equal to 2000 or better. While several notables have passed (smile down on us Hank Wilson and James Earl Dunne Jr.) others remain.
I like Meko best so far and I was glad to see you gave him equal billing (or, nearly). I just can't forget Hogarth's the guy who suggested Progressives run no one against Newsom and rely upon Gavin's mercy. That would work for he and Randy since their business increased around ten fold under the Gavster. He's also used his law degree and cash from Gavin to harass tenants who complain about the lousy job Shaw does with the buildings they manage.
At least a dozen will run in 6 is my guess and you'll like most of em.
Good riddance to Hogarth.

Though I'm sure I would have put him as my third choice on my ballot, I would feel uncomfortable voting for Paul Hogarth for no other reason than that he was such a vociferous ass during the Migden/Leno race.

Matt-
You are never involved in anything except blogging. You just read blogs and then try to position yourself as someone who is knowledgeable, to turn around and attempt to give others a sever lashing. It is like some little man complex, especially considering that you don't even live in San Francisco. You would never say this stuff to anyone's face because I know first hand that you are a coward. Coward. At least H. has the gusto to show up places after he cyber attacks people.

Residual Echo,
I'll take your coward comment seriously when you reveal your real name.

By the way, Residual Echo, if you reveal your real name, I might admit that you are dead on.

Actually, on third thought, don't worry about giving your real name. I am a coward with a little man complex who doesn't even live in San Francisco. In light of this fact, I'll keep the severe lashings to a bare minimum. Thanks for the spanking. It was refreshing and lord knows I needed it.

It's clear Matt hates San Francisco values. He's just raising the red flag to oppose the red flag.

Residual,
If I didn't show up places, where else would I show up?
And, there's nothing to fear here. I've attacked (justly in my opinion, or I later apologized) everyone from the head of the POA to the Mayor and most of his staff and they are all very cordial to me when we meet. Hmmmm, am I being too soft on them?
But, this is about Paul Hogarth and I say again ...
Good riddance!

Shane,
What is the purpose of your existence, exactly? I sincerely believe that if you were to somehow cease to exist, your parents wouldn't miss you even in the SLIGHTEST. In any case, I've said my piece and now I'm done with you. You are DISMISSED.
Residual Echo,
Sorry for the final lashing. Shane is just too much fun and I couldn't resist. Plus, it's the truth and he knows it.

Matt you don't get out much do you?
Posted by Shane | May 10, 2009 07:41 PM
Matt - since you don't live in San Francisco I should bring it to your attention that we don't have basements in 99% of the houses in the city.

It's good to know people are passionate about our political process, but shouldn't we be discussing important matters here instead of trying to make other people look and feel bad? Seriously, folks...

Shane,
You must be in that elite 1%, then. Or maybe your parents just stick you in the bomb shelter? Just kidding =). Come on, I'm not all that bad and neither are you. What's say we kiss and make up?
