So Gavin Newsom made official what so many have been speculating on for so long: He's out of the governor's race.
And I suspect that means he'll be in the city until his term ends in 2012.
There's been a lot of talk of him running for lieutenant gov, but one source in City Hall who is close to Newsom told me that's unlikely -- because if he won the second-tier post and left the city for Sacramento, the Board of Supervisors would be able to choose his replacement.
"His supporters here would be furious," the source said. "It's one thing to turn the city over to David Chiu and Aaron Peskin to take over as governor of California. But to do it for the worthless lieutenant governor job? The money people would never forgive him."

Too bad, I was looking forward to voting against him.

YIPPIE !!! Please tell me this not just a cruel hoax and more bullshit from the little weasel.
We were gonna have to put up with him for a while longer come what may, maybe now we can play some fun impeachment/recall games, take the little toady to court.
Just in case he and Dennis the Menace try and find a way to bend the rules again, it's more important to
RUN JEFF RUN.

Patrick I think you should definitely try to either impeach or recall the mayor. He's there for 2 more years and it will be fun to see you waste your time and effort on such a worthless cause. Not that that's any different from how you spend the majority of your days...

Oh the little trollop squeaks again, no sense of humor, irony, etc. must be sad to be trapped in such a narrow mind. I somehow dont think my patients and their families consider my days are wasted, though i do agree with you that newsom is a worthless cause.

The real question then becomes, what will this do to S.F. if the Mayor is not distracted by becoming Governor? Will he move left, right, and when will he announce his bid to run for Mayor, again?

ha ha ha yes, try and impeach mayor hair, that would be entertaining, in any other city in America Bay Guardian liberals would be fawning over Newsom is akin to Saint Daly.
The tipping put of political left wing paranoia and its inward feeding mono culture is so bad here in SF that the moonbats compare him the all their demonized enemies.
And yes Patrick, it is entertaining, a Bay Guardian drone complaining about another's narrow vision.
You "progressives" lack even the most basic abilities of self examination.

Now that he is no longer in a position to ignore San Francisco, will he buckle down and do the J-O-B , that he was elected to do? I have my doubts. There is always the Lt seat to pursue. Which many people like myself would vote him into just to get him out of his current seat. I can't see him harming this great city any more than he has from that afar.
The funny part is that the Democratic run for Guv is a open field. What id JB doesn't pool his paper into the ring? What will the democratic party do? Will they enter the race with their pants out around their democratic ankles? They expect us the Democrats to have our voting pants down to ours with Vaseline in hand. I prefer Chrisco. It's a smoother lube.

I'm sure that the message could be successfully conveyed to a wide range of constituencies that Newsom could give a damn about providing whatever city services that constituency expected in exchange for our tax dollars.
Newsom could always resolve to find common ground with those with whom he allegedly shares common ground in order to solve problems if he's got nothing to lose.

The reason we got Reagan and Bushes is because the progressive liberals in the City are just plain dumb.
Rally around a winner and take a few free throws when you get them.
Machine brought you Pelosi, but not Diane F.
Who would you rather have on your side - yeah I know Arnold.
