Reinstate Ross! Reinstate Ross!

Ross and Eliana Mirkarimi and son Theo stand with Women Standing with Ross

More than l00 women supporters of suspended Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi gathered on the City Hall steps Sunday  to stand with Ross in a show of support and  a photo shoot.

The women held signs reading “Stand with Eliana and Ross, Reinstate our Sheriff” and “I believe Eliana” in English and Spanish.

Ross told the women that Mayor Ed Lee was seeking his ouster as sheriff as a way to knock out the top elected progressives in the city and to consolidate power against the progressive community.

But, he said, “as a community we stand our ground and we maintain the principles of what is just and fair.”

He said that Lee was orchestrating the supervisorial vote on his ouster to come before the November election and thus put maximum pressure on the supervisors.  He called on the community to fight back, contact the supervisors and the media and let them know that the public wants Ross to be reinstated as sheriff.

His outreach information, distributed at the event, stated: “Let the Board of Supervisors and media hear from you on behalf of Ross Mirkarimi.  He is a good man who has dedicated himself for years to serve the citizens of San Francisco.  Ironically, although his career is in Justice, he has experienced the lack of Justice at the hands of City Hall."

And: “We elected Ross and should be the only ones to determine who is our sheriff.  Not the mayor, not the Ethics Commission, but the voters.”

The statement noted that Ross got more votes in November than did Lee for mayor and that the voters have been disenfranchised by Lee.  It also noted that “there is no precedent for suspending an official without pay.  What a terrible, unjust thing to do to a man.”

"Did any couple ever strike such a transcendental pose? Those who were there were indeed lucky to be the presence of what can really only be described as royalty."

The great Mark Moford described Obama as the "Lightworker" in 2008. Here's part of what he said:

"Here's where it gets gooey. Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul."

Well, it turns out that Obama was just a Chicago political hack, and not The Lightworker, but I think that Ross and Eliana may jointly turn out be the Lightworker. Merging the best of the Venezuelan and San Francisco progressive traditions, with a physical beauty that overwhelms their small-minded opponents, they may well turn out to be the people who will truly will cause the rise of the oceans to begin to slow and our planet to begin to heal.

We have to support Ross and Eliana. The Planet needs them!

I believe that Mr. Mirkarimi should have his case taken before the voters of San Francisco for a recall of his position as sheriff of San Francisco.

I have no doubt in anyone's mind that he will be recalled from his position by the citizens of San Francisco and a replacement of a higher moral and ethical value with take his place.

I find it difficult to understand how this mind believes he is qualified to hold this position in law enforcement. Michael Hennessy, former sheriff of San Francisco, held this position for 30 years without incident, and Mr. Mirkarimi cannot even hold this job for 30 days before running into problems.

Nor was he ever placed on probation after admitting he committed a crime. He was also never in DV counseling to my knowledge. Too bad Ross cannot say the same.

the politically expedient thing and end up forcing the city and county to pay out a huge judgment in a couple of years?

Posted by Guest on Sep. 10, 2012 @ 3:04 pm

From the Examiner. This conspiracy and race obsessed idiocy makes Ross unfit to hold any office.

"At various community meetings last spring, Mirkarimi said he pleaded guilty because he didn’t think he could get a fair trial, but that his decision has been inappropriately used against him. He often said that the “legacy of Jim Crow laws” is still alive in the local jails, which house a disproportionate number of black inmates.

“It’s no different than any other county, but I expect more of San Francisco,” Mirkarimi told a group of people in June. “We made that clear in our inaugural ... and that’s threatening to some people.” Even so, he added, he never expected the “level of retribution” he encountered."

Posted by matlock on Sep. 10, 2012 @ 4:52 pm

Now it involves a vast conspiracy involving the KKK and the Prison Industrial complex - all out to get poor, persecuted Ross Mirkarimi.

The rally today is a prime example of that thinking - it's all about removing progressives from office apparently.

"The women held signs reading... “I believe Eliana”

Wait, so when they were holding the signs that said "I believe Eliana", were they saying they believed Eliana's testimony at the Ethics Hearing? Or were they saying that they believed Eliana when she made her video describing the "incident"?

Posted by Snoozers on Sep. 10, 2012 @ 11:09 pm

The Eliana who confided that her husband abused her or the Eliana that now claims that he didn't?

Posted by Guest on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 5:08 am

We believe that a certain faux lawyer in league with a man who once briefly had a beautiful wife and who has lots of power,( inexplicably since he sucks as both a writer and an editor) coached Eliana into making a :45 second tape as insurance in a prospective custody fight. The faux lawyer promised confidentiality, advised that a foreign national could never win custody unless she made accusations of domestic violence..much like the powerful newspaper fellow had to attack the beautiful wife re custody. In thetape Eliana shows the bruised arm, which she has NEVER lied about. They had two fights over her penchant for taking Theo to Venezuela to make movies for long periods of time away from his father.. One arm grab does not an abuser make.We believe Elliana.

Posted by Guest on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 8:10 am

five months rather than support her husband? and then came back only when she realised his paycheck was going? Is that same Eliana who pointed to her bruise on video and said "it has happened before"? Is that the same Eliana that is an actress and knows how to convey any emotion?

Posted by Guest on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 9:32 am

and without the resources to pay the mortgage and feed herself and her child? Perhaps you are unaware, but Eliana is a movie star in a different country, where a different language is spoken. She returned to that country to make a couple of movies and some ....wait for
Maybe she had reasonable fears that Poison would don the HUNTRESS catsuit and attack her in some new way.

Posted by Guest on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 10:27 am

"could not be with her husband" in SF?

Anyway, they had argued about her wanting to go there, and almost as soon as she could, she fled. Why didn't she stay and fight for her husband? Because she was scared of his violence, and scared he would take their son away on account of him being "a powerful man"

Well, he's a skankload less "powerful" now, and it's all his own stupid fault.

Posted by Guest on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 11:07 am

There was a court-ordered restraint against Ross Mirkarimi seeing his wife at the time.

Bizarre. Can the anti-Mirkarimi haters honestly be so ignorant? No. They are for the most part just mendacious scoundrels.

Posted by lillipublicans on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 11:53 am

a judge granted it. so if eliana chose to run away rather than stay and get that lifted immediately, that is damning. Even if she could not get it lifted, she could still have stayed and fought for Ross.

Instead she ran, almost as if she feared for her life.

Posted by Guest on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 12:33 pm

It is particularly galling that the domestic violence prevention and prosecution advocates have aligned themselves with your breed of contemptible filthy lying misogynistic and hypocritical scum. *Of* *course* she could *not* get the stay away order lifted!

She *objected* to the stay away order from the start!

Really it kind of creeps me out to be exposed to such misanthropic rubbish. No wonder the world is so f-ed up.

Posted by lillipublicans on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 1:03 pm

But as soon as she did, it was lifted.

So rather than appeal it, she ran away.

*I* provided a URL to back *my* statement that Eliana had objected to the restraining order *from* *the* *beginning*.

Here's a direct quote from that source -- not only a "reputable" news source, but a fairly consistent source for anti-Mirkarimi propaganda; it should be pretty foolproof in this regard:

"Lopez, 36, left the courtroom without commenting. She has denounced the criminal case against her husband, saying in one interview that it was politically motivated, and asked Breall last week not to impose the stay-away order."

request to the courts. It's just, well, potentially a piece of soap opera acting until and unless she formally files a motion. As soon as she did, having ran off for 5 months, it was granted.

with the court, but rather she only tearfully begged the judge not to forcibly separate her from her husband and him from his son. How could she have expected *that* to work?

Well, I'm sure she's learned a thing or two about American jurisprudence since then, perhaps in part thanks to truly caring and considerate people like you.

Posted by lillipublicans on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 5:18 pm

do you really think she doesn't know how to turn on the waterworks on a dime? She does it for a living!

It was a play to try and bail Ross out of the mess he made for himself by assaulting her.

Posted by Guest on Sep. 12, 2012 @ 4:25 am

Phenomenal. You almost seem to be on nobody's side -- completely impartial to the point of derangement -- but I think you are really one of the simple anti-Mirkarimi haters and anti-American anti-public discourse noisemakers.

When Eliana cried and begged Judge Breall to not disband her family, she was "an actress!," and the Judge was correct to save her and her little son from her own possibly murderous -- and who knows? Maybe cannibal, devil-worshipping! -- husband, Theo's dad and long serving public officer Ross Mirkarimi.

When it came to her live and sworn testimony in front of the Ethics Commission, she was "an actress!" -- only out for her stake in Ross' salary and pension.

But when it comes to analyzing the New Years Day video that *we* *know* was made with according to her false lawyer/freind Ivory Madisons advice and for the express purpose of holding in reserve for some future possible custondy battle, "it was a live!"

She's an actress! She's not! She is! No!

Posted by Guest on Sep. 11, 2012 @ 4:47 pm

of his office deprived Ross Mirkarimi of his job and his livelihood.

The court order restraining Ross and Eliana from living together meant that they had to maintain seperate domiciles even though they had no income.

As soon as she returned to San Francisco, enabled to do so by the generosity of citizens who wished to counter Ed Lee's disgusting attempt to preclude her from giving her testimony in person to the Ethics Commission, and AT HER FIRST OPPORTUNITY to do so, she petitioned the court to lift the restraining order. That was her very first opportunity to do so.

I *know* you are just a lying troll and will respond with more ridiculous bullshit, so I may not bother to respond further on this thread.

Someone once said that the only true evil in the world is branding others as evil, but your continued presence here really challenges me.

I despise you Troll II. I have no doubt that most people who read the San Francisco Bay Guardian feel the exact same way; possibly even your closest family members too.

time in those five months. But instead she hid out beyond US jurisdiction and away from the husband she later claimed to stand behind, once she realized his paycheck was gone, and thereby any chance she has of getting a decent alibi.

She's acting now, and you're too blind to see it.

“I believe Eliana”, and whatever story she is peddling today.

Past statements by Eliana are automatically inoperative!

I believed Eliana when she said that Ross abused her.

I believe Eliana now when she said that Ross didn't abuse her.

And I'll believe Eliana later when she says that Ross did abuse her, for purposes of the divorce hearing.

"You are a slow learner, Winston", said O'Brien gently.

"How can I help it? " he blubbered." How can I help seeing what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four. "

"Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane. "
