disclaimer: this is intended to be a letter to the editor, but NOWHERE on this website can I find any way to send it electronically. Which is consistent with the Guardian's impossible-to-navigate print edition, with no table of contents, no jump page for the cover story, which is an editorial in itself. And it's impossible to place the pictures on the arts and culture section with the corresponding event!
Now to my letter:
It is SHAMEFUL that the Guardian has chosen to endorse "Chicken" John Rinaldi as mayor. San Francisco is a world class city, and the Guardian is a major voice in a major market. For you to endorse a clown makes your paper look even more foolish than the candidate, who, when questioned by Street Sheet on how he would address homelessness replied, "I dunno [sic]."
You call Chicken John the "the protest candidate of protest candidates." For protesters, try Josh Wolf who went to jail for his beliefs.
In Chicken John, you have recognized a candidate who is effectively not running.
Chicken John further tells Street Sheet, "what difference does it make what my opinion on the whole issue is?" Yes, Chicken indeed.
