Here’s what Mayor Gavin Newsom told the Chronicle after yesterday’s 8-3 vote by the Board of Supervisors to temporarily save city workers from the bitter sting of job loss during the holiday season:

"As mayor, I don't have to spend the money, so this is much ado about nothing."

He also said the Supes who voted to allocate less than $1.9 million to temporarily preserve the jobs -- representing approximately three hundredths of one percent of the city’s total $6.6 billion budget -- are living in a “reality-free zone.”

It is high time to recall this empty suit. All his supporters, advisors and cronies have jumped ship onto bigger and better things. There is nothing left for this guy except lame duck which will lead to more of the same. The Supes are running the city and his (lack of) wisdom and fortitude provide no added value to our ailing city.

Gavin, go home and enjoy your new family.
Let the Supes just run the show as they have for the past two years.

No surprise,

Obviously the only reason Sophie Maxwell changed her vote to give the super-majority demanded by Dennis Herrera was because everyone-not-appointed by Newsom wanted to give up to 500 people on the payroll one last holiday before the pink slip.

Newsom simply proves yet again that he has no heart. In 2003 during his campaign against Gonzalez his restaurant group bought a downtown eatery and fired all of the employees just before Xmas.

I wish the worst thing possible for the Mayor and that is that he awaken on New Year's day and look in the mirror and see that he's still the piece of shit he was at the party the night before.
