Joanna Rees pole vaults into Mayor’s race

Matier & Ross have an interesting item about venture capitalist Joanna Rees running for mayor and declaring herself  “a progressive independent”.

What they don’t mention –- or don’t know -- is that Rees has given $6,500 to Mayor Gavin Newsom’s Lt. Governor campaign.

That puts Rees on par with former Dreamworks co-founder David Geffen, Dreamworks’ Jeffrey Katzenberg, actress Kate Capshaw, film director Stephen Spielberg, and the three members of the Traina clan (Alexis, Todd and Trevor) who so far have each plunked down 6.5 K for Newsom’s latest political run.

Newsom’s campaign filings also record that Rees is with VSP Capital. So if you want to know more about Rees and her partner, you can read their official bios here.

Sarah you must have been shocked, SHOCKED, at the mere whiff of a sexual scandal around a mayoral candidate in San Francisco. I sympathize that you had to write this article. It must have offended your delicate sympathies to even touch such a filthy subject.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: who cares? Who cares who fucks whom?

Run away bureaucracy

Dear Ms. Reese:

Please let me know you stand on the Subject above and your fiscal solution for the City of SF. The bureaucracy is out of control and there is no Table of Organization T/O which would dictate the required number of supervisors to efficiently manage their subordinates. It appears that we have all Chief and no Indians. With the first Federal Grant Stimulus money, during the Agnost era, instead of adding lower supervisory personnel, like Corporals and Senior Sergeants, the City opted to create four additional Deputy Chiefs, added six Commanders and increased the number of Captains from 13 to 28. With subsequent Federal Stimulus money grants, we now have 58 Captains, while 40% of the Police Activities were taken over by the newly created agency (Department of Traffic Control). The same applies for the rest of the City Departments, while instead of getting rid of the "Fat" the City is contemplating of laying off the actual productive workers
