Uh oh ... feds raid pot clubs in Seattle

The feds have launched a coordinated series of raids on medical marijuana dispensaries in the Pacific Northwest. The Stranger in Seattle has extensive coverage:

Federal agents and local law enforcement are executing a volley of raids on medical-marijuana disperses throughout Western Washington this afternoon, according to several sources, who say some of the proprietors are being handcuffed and taken away in squad cars. Thus far, we've received reports of busts in Olympia, Lacey, Tacoma, Puyallup, and Seattle.

The Cannabis Defense Coalition has posted a tally of 14 dispensaries raided today.

The raids are leaving patients empty handed and it's not clear what comes next or whether any of the Western Washington clubs will survive.

This is very bad news, and you have to wonder:

The feds have threatened pot clubs across California and shut down at least two in San Francisco. They're trying to shut down a lot more in the Seattle area. At least 14 mayors have been on a conference call to coordinate strategy against the Occupy movement. Are the feds involved in that, too?

Is November the month that governments across the country, working together, are going to strike back at medical pot and Occupy? What possible reason could the Obama administration have to do that, one year before an election that he won't win without the support of the people who are getting arrested, evicted, abused and forced to lose their medical suppliers?

What the fuck is going on?

Prohibition is actually an authoritarian war on the economy, the Constitution and every civic institution of our once great and free nation.

It's all about the market and cost/benefit analysis. Whether any particular drug is good, bad, or otherwise is irrelevant! As long as there is demand for any mind altering substance, there will be supply; the end! The only affect prohibiting it has is to drive the price up, increase the costs and profits, and where there is illegal profit to be made criminals and terrorists thrive.

The cost of criminalizing citizens who are using substances no more harmful than similar things that are perfectly legal like alcohol and tobacco, is not only hypocritical and futile, but also simply not worth the incredible damage it does.

Afghani farmers produce approx. 93% of the world's opium which is then, mostly, refined into street heroin then smuggled throughout Eastern and Western Europe.

Both the Taliban and the terrorists of al Qaeda derive their main income from the prohibition-inflated value of this very easily grown crop; Prohibition is the "Goose that laid the golden egg" and the lifeblood of terrorists as well as drug cartels. Only those opposed, or willing to ignore this fact, want things the way they are.

Kindly Google: A GLOBAL OVERVIEW OF NARCOTICS-FUNDED TERRORIST GROUPS

Prohibition provides America's sworn enemies with financial "aid" and tactical "comforts". The Constitution of the United States of America defines treason as:
"Article III / Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort."

Support for prohibition is therefore an act of treason against the Constitution, and a dire threat to our nation's civic institutions. Each day we remain silent, we help to destroy the Constitution, fill the prisons with our children, and empower terrorists and criminals worldwide while wasting hundreds of billions of our own tax dollars. Prohibition bears many strong and startling similarities to Torquemada’s Inquisition or Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge, it’s supporters are servants of tyranny and hate who’s sole purpose is to make the rest of us suffer their putrid legacy of incalculable waste and destruction.

The Feds don't like the operations because of one simple fact: they are raking in. This is what the Feds have said, and I believe them. Folks are getting rich off of 'medicalization.' That's what the Feds object to...the State's sloppy implementation of Medical Marijuana. But now, its too late...

I wish I could believe that. I imagine that the feds do believe it. The more narrow a person's thinking, the easier it must be to enforce laws that directly counteract the will of the people, which, in Oakland specifically, and in California generally. is clear. Cannabis is a medicine and people who want to use a miracle of Nature rather than a chemical such as, for example, Ritalin, which causes far too much serious harm to the body than is warranted for any of the conditions that it purports to treat. That Ritalin and so many of the really dangerous drugs that are not only legal but are advertised constantly in the media,-- insane combinations of harsh chemicals whose dangerous, often deadly, side effects are rapidly spewed out from disembodied voices hiding beneath triumphal music and sun-drenched scenes of happy smiling actors and models show us how happy and smiling these horrific chemistry experiments gone horribly awry have made them-are entirely, unquestioningly Legal.
And the Drug Corporations are raking it in. Big time.
So why are the Feds really focusing on people providing an herb that's been in continuous use and has been praised as a panacea for all ills since at least the time of Socrates? Compare the multi-billion dollar profits of the people who push their chemicals to children as well as adults with the relatively small profits realized by the people who operate California's dispensaries and you'll see how bizarre your reasoning appears to me. It's about money, that's for sure, but it's about the money that the Pharmaceuticals are losing and will continue to lose as more and more people wake up from the spell woven by Corporations, the A.M.A. and what passes for Government, at least in the eyes of most Americans. What it's really about is the ability of Cannabis to help a person wake up from the trance of narrow-minded, compassionless, spiritual and emotional bankruptcy that has led the whole worldl to the brink of ecological, spiritual and societal disaster.

sucks when it's not working out for you, but when it works to your advantage it's awesome.

Everyone wants to get over, the naked opportunism of the Tim Redmond's of the world is entertaining. Complaining about the feds cracking down on this while trying to get over at every level of government when it works to his advantage is a hoot.

Progressive whine and moan about laws in Arizona then whine and moan about this.

Obama got my vote in 2008....he just lost my vote for 2012.

Keeping democracy down requires regular White House and Congressional intervention. Depriving us of jobs, homes and medical care makes it difficult for us to organize and mobilize a revolt against the corporate tyranny ruling our country and the world. Obama's cannabis raids might have something to do with federal inability to control this non-pharmaceutical product, or it may be a concern about the consciousness raising aspect of this beneficial entheogen. Or both.

Another Obama lie.

Obama Bush is really trying to throw his re-election?

Charly hit it on the head. The pharmaceutical companies and of course Phillip Morris want in on this cash crop and those two are the Feds cash cows. I agree. I voted for Obama once but not this time

Boy do I agree with eveyone, Obama sure lost a lot of votes on this one. Let's not forget the same week he did the 180 on the MMJ policy he made a huge deal with the pharmacuticals who are sitting on the sidelines wanting to get in on the so called "Cash Cow". Most of us know that may be overstated. Maybe a few make a bundle, but the rest of us? Hardly. All this trouble also started right after the Tax Court ruled against a large California dispencery, disallowing all their operating expenses, making their entire Gross Income taxable. They now owe the IRS millions, just another way to put people out of business. Dosen't it make you wonder why in an economy like this the "Government" would discourage business? What the hell, are they that incompetent? Well in my opinion, YES. It is like they are 40 years behind the american peoples life. And why is the DEA after americans? Why spend time raiding dispenceries and harrassing paitents? Souldn't the DEA be going after the Mexcians? Guess it is just easier to raid non threating business than do real work related to the Mexcian Cartel's, they have big guns, some of them we sent to them. I grew up in Southern California and have known for over 40 year's there were underground tunnels. But the government wants to build a fence. I am curious how a fence stops people and products from coming through underground tunnels. And I have to think if I have known those tunnels have been there all these years why wouldn't the government know? I heard about it on the news. Guess they are just a lot smarter than the rest of us.
