The drunken bishop, pelted Republicans, and God

"Is that you, God?" ------------ "Yes, and you can call me Isaac."

San Francisco's intolerant new Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone got arrested for DUI over the weekend and there's a hurricane bearing down on the Republican National Convention and its hypocritical fundamentalists – maybe there is a God after all.

Comments

The Pontiff heaves a sigh of relief that Salvatore was arrested for DUI and not with a dead woman or a live boy.

That affirm if Mirkarimi wasn't a progressive you wouldn't be so hysterically defending him.

I will defend his right to drink and drive to the death ;)

Right now the in-coming Archbishop is probably trying to figure out a way to blame drag queens or President Obama for getting him drunk and arrested. Can't wait to hear how he tries to get out of this one.

surely he would have vaporized Steven by now, on the day he took care of the "journalists."

"If there were a god surely he..."

HE? Why does it have to be male or have a gender? Sounds like someone has allowed themselves to be programmed to some extent with the mythology they seem to reject, as in "if there WERE a god" meaning you don't believe there is one (I don't either), then you call it a "he" god.

Do some people never think before they speak?

As for this Roman Catholic basura that this article is about...UGH. What a fucking piece of work.

some people think way too much before they speak. Spare us your rigid orthodoxy.

Why are you all so afraid of men and masculinity? Does the presence of the masculine gender really threaten you so much? I mean, this is the context of the Catholic fucking Church, the institution with the highest overlap between misogynist and pedophile.

It is like a good chunk of the progressive "movement" is comprised of former Catholics who are trying to either forever please the priest into not molesting them or to rehabilitate the Church that they feel let them down and can be fixed.

Catholic prelates would not wear penis hats if they were not a wholly misogynist institution. Why look for reductionist feminist redemption in that cesspool of corruption?

the internet (as in not being explicit in such since vocal inflections and facial expressions aren't available to the reader) but I do find the reference to "penis hats" quite amusing.

Nothing sarcastic here. I'm just over this notion in both feminist and queer communities that any expression of masculinity is tantamount to rapist fratboy jocks. Expecting feminist thought from the Catholic Church is like expecting the second coming of Jesus to happen.....NOW.

Well, then I agree with you. I guess the mention of "reductionist feminist redemption" simply went over my head.

Ladies, the penis is NOT a weapon of oppression but mumbo-jumbo from the Catholic Church IS.

He was drinking the Blood of Christ.

How was he to know the alcohol content? Is God 80 proof?
