Endorsement interviews: Jill Wynns for School Board

Jill Wynns has been on the San Francisco school board for 20 years. She knows the system inside and out -- and these days, she's president of the California School Boards Association and had led the group's efforts to pass (both) tax measures on the November ballot. We fought with her (on JROTC), supported her (on battles against school privatization) and always walked away with an understanding the she cares deeply about public schools and kids. You can hear her discuss why she wants a sixth term after the jump.

Wynns has been working in the trenches for 20 years, whilst her colleagues on the board - all of them using the job merely as a springboard for a political career - have bounced quickly through the turnstile.

She's a plain-speaking, non-ideological godsend for the children of San Francisco.

She won last time by only around 200 votes. Deborah Walker almost beat her. Walker an "artist" who was merely job-shopping (she ran for supervisor in the next election, and will continue job-shopping in the future).

Deborah Walker didn't run for school board last time. Im not aware that she ever did. Anyhow, it was Bobi Lopez who came so close to winning last time.

absymal track record in elections, that's probably just as well.

Having been slapped down recently by both Kim and Olague, she's toxic at this point.
